(Almost) My Last Hike of the Year

It seems fitting that my first post was on the first day of summer.  This isn't even close to being the "last" day of summer, but I think it might have been my last hike of the year.

It's November 11 and I went on a hike today in Eddington with my friend, Melissa.  Would you believe it actually snowed while we were out tromping through the woods trying to find the trail?  Well, I guess it's not all that unbelievable, but it seemed strange to me at the time.

Sadly, we never found the bluff we were looking for, but we did manage to get in at least six miles of hiking and lots of laughs.  Today our hike was definitely about the journey, not the destination.

Ah, such is life.  Isn't it wonderful?

Saturday, June 21

It's the first day of summer and I'm happy to report I took my first hike of the season.

It was a great day to climb Chick Hill (Peaked Mountain) in Clifton. Despite a low-temp forecast, it was quite warm throughout the hike with a slight breeze at the top.

I don't know why I decided to create this blog today or why I chose "Dishing It Out" and started talking about hiking.  I just googled some some lyrics, came across another blog, saw options for creating my own, and went for it.

Perhaps the next time I write, I'll think of something a little more creative.

Until then...
